Regulations, safety and maintenance

A particular fire risk arises when natural gas mixes with air in the presence of an open flame or other source of ignition. In such circumstances, and in a confined space, there is a particular risk of explosion in the explosive zone.

Do not extinguish gas flames until the fire valves are turned off, otherwise there is a risk of an explosion cloud. For small fires, we use dust or carbon dioxide extinguishers, and for larger fires, we use water spray.

Gas in higher concentrations is intoxicating and can cause loss of consciousness and, due to lack of oxygen, suffocation.

We rescue victims from compromised areas using breathing apparatuses. The victims are transferred to clean air, out of the danger zone, given artificial respiration and medical assistance.

Gas leaks from gas installations and appliances create an explosive mixture. Gas is lighter than air and rises. It is necessary to prevent sparks and to prevent the formation of an ignition source and the access of open flames. A detector (explosimeter) is used to identify a hazardous area, mark it and prevent access. In the hazardous area, protective clothing against high temperatures must be worn. Only enter hazardous areas with a breathing apparatus.

Plinarna Maribor provides a 24-hour intervention service in the event of a natural gas leak in the municipalities where we provide the public utility service of Natural Gas Distribution System Operator.

An odourant with a characteristic smell is added to the natural gas to indicate that a leak has occurred and that an explosive mixture of natural gas and air may have formed.

Reporting gas meter readings

We all want to stay in control of household costs. To reduce the differences between billed and actual gas consumption, we suggest regular, monthly transmission of gas meter readings. This will help you to align your payments with your actual consumption and avoid a discrepancy in your annual gas billing.

Report your gas meter reading in the last five days of the current month:

  • via MojPlin portal - the MojPlin user portal allows you to quickly and easily enter your meter readings, be reminded to enter your consumption, view your readings and monthly consumption, view your invoices, view the status of open items and view notifications from the Distribution System Operator.
  • to the e-mail address:zp@plinarna-maribor.si
  • to the postal address: Plinarna Maribor d.o.o., Plinarniška ulica 9, 2000 Maribor

Sporočanje odčitkov plinskega števca

The reading must be true and reflect the actual state of the gas meter. If you report your reading before the last day of the current month, the estimated consumption will be calculated for the remaining days until the end of that month.
