DSO price lists

The Distribution System Operator (DSO) provides customers with access to the natural gas distribution system. The network charge is the price paid by a natural gas customer for access to the distribution system and consists of a network charge for distribution and a network charge for metering. The DSO also provides other services (disconnection and connection, gasification of gas installations, etc.).

The Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Agency) regulates network charges and other services by setting out a methodology for determining and charging network charges and other services. The DSO must obtain the Agency’s consent before implementing the tariff rates for network charges and other services. As of 1 January 2017, the unit of account for calculating the network charge for distribution has changed from Sm3 to kWh.

On the basis of the Act on the Methodology for the Charging of the Network Fee for the Natural Gas Distribution System, issued by the Agency, the DSO sets the following tariff rates:

  • distribution network charges,
  • network charges for metering,
  • other services.

Based on the Regulation on the provision of energy savings, the DSO also levies an energy efficiency contribution for natural gas.

Note: The total cost of natural gas supply includes, in addition to the network charge and the energy efficiency contribution, the cost of natural gas supply and charges related to natural gas supply.

The published distribution network charges are valid from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027

The tariff rates for the distribution network charge are summarised from the Act on setting the tariff rates for the natural gas distribution system in the geographical areas of the Municipality of Maribor and the municipalities of Ruše, Hoče – Slivnica, Šentilj, Miklavž na Dravskem polju, and Rače – Fram (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 113/24), which sets out the tariff items for the 2025-2027 regulatory period. Tariff items for the 2022-2024 regulatory period are avalible here – (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 204/2021).

As of 1 January 2017, based on the Regulation on the Functioning of the Natural Gas Market (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 61/2016), all distribution network tariff items that were previously calculated in volumetric units Sm3 (measuring device with temperature and pressure corrector) or m3 (measuring device without pressure and temperature corrector installed inside the building or measuring device with temperature corrector installed outside the building) are calculated in the energy unit kWh. The quantities measured by the measuring device in the volumetric unit Sm3 or m3, are first converted into the volumetric unit Nm3 (the quantity of natural gas in a volume of one cubic metre at an absolute pressure of 1.01325 bar and a temperature of 0 °C) and then into the energy unit kWh. The method of calculation of the conversion and the calculation of the energy consumed in kWh is further specified in the Act amending the Act on the methodology for the calculation of the network charge for the natural gas distribution system (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 85/2016). In accordance with Article 10 of this Act, we publish the following information:

  • mean altitude H=282 m (applies to the whole distribution area)
  • conversion factor z=0.94038 (for all non-Nm3 and non-Sm3 metering devices, the natural gas accounting temperature Teff=288.15 K or 15 °C)
  • average upper heating value Hs= check here

The network charges for metering can be found in a separate price list.

On the basis of the Regulation on the provision of energy savings (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 96/2014), the distribution system operator also levies an energy efficiency contribution.

As of 1 January 2017, the energy efficiency contribution for natural gas is 0.00080 €/kWh.

The network charges for metering apply from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027. The network charges for metering period 2022-2024 are published in an attached document »PRICE LIST – Network fee for metering 2022-2024«.

Meaning of labels:

  • ZM – monthly amount for metering
  • Vu – tariff rate for metering when the distribution system operator does not own the metering equipment and maintains and calibrates it = EUR 1.40000
  • f1 – factor for size and type of metering device
  • f2 – temperature and pressure correction factor = 31.5

The calculation of the amount for the ZM metering is set out in Article 24 of the Act on the methodology for the calculation of the network charge for the natural gas distribution system
ZM = V(U) * (f(1) + f(2)) in €/month

The value of Vu is set by the Act on setting the tariff rates of the network charge for the natural gas distribution system in the geographical areas of the Municipality of Maribor and the municipalities of Ruše, Hoče – Slivnica, Miklavž na Dravskem polju, and Rače – Fram (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 113/24).

Have you detected the smell of gas?

Plinarna Maribor provides a 24-hour intervention service in the event of a natural gas leak in the municipalities, where we provide the public utility service of Natural Gas Distribution System Operator.

An odourant with a characteristic smell is added to the natural gas to indicate that a leak has occurred and could potentially form an explosive mixture of natural gas and air.

Smell of gas outdoors

  • Immediately call the emergency service on +3862 22 843 00 and tell them who is calling and where you detected the smell of gas. On weekdays after 15:00 and on public holidays, calls will be answered by Sintal. Please explicitly state to the operator that you want Plinarna Maribor to intervene. If you are unable to reach the operator, make an emergency call to 112.

What should you do if you detect a smell of gas?

  • Extinguish the flame on the gas appliance.
  • Close the valve on the cylinder.
  • Open windows and doors to ventilate the area.
  • Tighten the protective nut on the cylinder.
  • Take the cylinder to an open area.
  • Call the distributor’s emergency service on the freephone number 080 1248.
  • A leaking cylinder is inspected and removed by the distributor’s emergency service. Do not, under any circumst.

Smell of gas in buildings – take action in the following order:

  • Open all windows and doors – create a draft.
  • Shut off the gas supply upstream of the gas meter and at the main gas shut-off (fire) valve.
  • In rooms where you smell gas: do not use open flames, do not smoke, do not use matches or lighters, electrical switches and sockets, doorbells and telephones.
  • Alert other occupants (by knocking, shouting, etc.) and leave the building and retreat to a safe distance.
  • Call the emergency services as mentioned in “Smell of gas outdoors”.
